Tutorial quizzes, a common quiz and an Endterm exam (as it is a half sem course)

What are the topics covered in the course?
Quantum mechanics – postulates, particle in a potential well. Hydrogen atom – solutions to the H atom Schrodinger equation, atomic orbitals and their contour plots. Many electron atoms – spin orbitals and Slater determinants. Molecular orbital theory – as applied to homonuclear and heteronuclear diatomic molecules. Concept of hybridization and bonding in polyatomic molecules. Molecular spectroscopy.
How were the Lectures for this course?
The lectures are quite interesting. It’s also very easy to pay regular attention to the lectures because they’re really engaging, so it’s not difficult to follow the content of the course. There won’t be much work left to be done after paying attention to lectures, so they’re really useful for this course.
How were the Exams (Quizzes, Mid-sem and End-sem) for this course?
The tutorial quizzes and the common quiz are straightforward and can be solved easily if one has solved the tutorial sheets and paid attention in lectures. The endsem may have some questions that may be tougher or trickier than the tutorial questions, so it is important to have a good understanding of concepts so that you can apply them and solve those questions.
How are the Assignments & Projects for this course?
There are no graded assignments, but there are weekly tutorial sheets uploaded on Moodle. Solving them regularly is extremely helpful in getting a clear understanding of concepts. They’re short and can be solved without too much effort ; the solutions are of course discussed in the tutorials.
Any tips for the junta to perform well in the course?
Besides paying attention in lectures and solving tutorial sheets, it will be really useful to fully solve the papers of previous years ( quiz and endsems ) . It is also possible to lose track of the course content and the concepts because of the math involved , so it’s important to keep up with the content and get doubts cleared regularly.
